IrFanView, a nice little image editing application
Cropping, resizing, format converting, batch processing are simple forms of image manipulation that you could do in every version of Photoshop, but why use a program that uses large amounts of memory and burns a hole in your pocket?
IrFanView does all these things with a tiny program (version 4.23 is only 1,28 MegaBytes) that uses little resources and is totally free. Let’s look into the list of file formats this freeware program supports:

As you can see there are a lot of formats that you can open with this program, although you can’t edit them and save them in the same format. This makes it a great program to convert some of the more exotic fileformats for use on the web. Another nifty feature of IrFanView is that you can create your own screensavers with it, based on pictures you like. It can also read the EXIF-data from the pictures you made with your digital camera.
To complete the package there are quite some plug-ins that add a lot of nice little features.
